Life has a way of testing us in ways we never expect. It pushes us into the dark, yet even there, growth can occur. That’s the inspiration behind the name of my psychotherapy practice, Shadow + Light. Established in 2024, this practice has been years in the making, born from my belief that even in life’s most challenging moments, we can find strength, resilience, and a path forward.
I’ve dedicated my life to helping people in various capacities, but my journey as a therapist began in 2018 when I decided to pursue a master's degree in social work at University of New Hampshire. Since 2021, I’ve worked as a full-time clinical social worker in the medical field, and over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals during some of the most difficult times in their lives. My passion lies in working with adults and seniors navigating the mental health challenges tied to medical complexities, such as chronic and terminal illnesses—a calling I discovered in 2021.
Since becoming an advocate for care planning in 2022, I’ve worked to educate individuals and families on vital conversations, ensuring they have the tools to face the future with clarity and confidence. In 2023, my life was forever changed when my mom passed away unexpectedly. The grief and uncertainty of that experience taught me the profound importance of advance care planning. Being left without any guidance on her wishes was a heartbreaking and eye-opening journey, one that deepened my commitment to helping others prepare for the unexpected.
Out of my grief and dedication to healing, I also founded a thriving online grief group for people under 40 who’ve lost their parents. This community has become a special space for connection, understanding, and support—a reminder that we are not alone in our experiences.
Through Shadow + Light, I aim to create a safe, compassionate space for those grappling with grief, chronic illness, or the loss of a loved one. I understand the courage it takes to reach out for help and allow someone to walk with you in your most vulnerable times. Whether you are seeking to process loss, navigate a medical diagnosis, or simply find your footing in the midst of life’s challenges, I am here to support you.
My practice is rooted in the belief that growth can happen in the darkest of times. Together, we can explore the shadows and embrace the light, discovering the resilience and strength within you.
